I’ve spoken previously about how we’ve learned to make the most of even “normal” 2-day weekends (example: our weekend warrior trip to Hudson Valley), so Michael and I absolutely jumped at the prospect of going on a mini-trip during the ***drumroll*** THREE DAY Labor Day Weekend of 2021!

We planned to spend the weekend with my good friend at her childhood home in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. I was beyond excited— and it turned out to be one of the most pleasurable, relaxing, and New England-ey weekends I’ve ever had!
Three Days in Old Greenwich, CT
Our gracious hosts set up a croquet court on their beautiful lawn and I hope my memories of learning croquet with a wooden mallet in one hand and cold beer in the other never, ever fade.

I just can’t get over the incredible hospitality of my wonderful friend and her family— we were stuffed with bagels and coffee in the morning, snacks and nibbles throughout the day, and home-grilled barbeque dinners (it was Labor Day, after all). Probably most enjoyable of all was actually a lunch of chicken nuggets, fries, and potato puffs from Garden Catering that my friend described as her post-school day snack— I’m a sucker for nostalgic foods and those little guys were darn tasty.

One of the best parts of our long weekend in Old Greenwich was the abundance of puppies. There were between 3 and 4 dogs in the house at any moment and it was so fun!
We spent our days playing croquet, chatting over food and drink, strolling around the neighborhood house-gazing, and poring over puzzles while watching Bridgerton.
